“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have ever-lasting life.” - John 3:16
Before the days of ultrasounds and gender reveals, new parents waited anxiously for their new child’s arrival. Would it be a girl or a boy? Would it be healthy? Would it have a full head of hair or be hair challenged? In that moment, the doctor would announce the answers to the questions. The wait was over - all had been revealed when the child took their first breath.
Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In that strange place, surrounded by strange people, in the dead of night, Mary and Joseph gave birth to a healthy baby boy - and the world has never been the same. Questions were answered. Prophecies were fulfilled. The wait was over. Mankind would now have access to its Creator.
I can just imagine the pride that was on the Father’s face as Jesus gave out His first breath. But, I can also imagine that all of mankind was on His mind as He thought about the role Jesus would play - salvation from sin and an eternity beyond our wildest dreams.
You were on His mind. He was thinking about you. He loves you. He gave so that you could be restored to Him.
How could we not display this love to others we come across?
