I've Got Anything But Time

“But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” - Ruth 1:16

Maybe you’ve heard the old adage Love is spelled T.I.M.E. When your love language is Quality Time, it truly is an expression of love.

This act can be powerful because it communicates to the receiver that you could be anywhere doing anything, but you CHOSE to be with them. It shows sacrifice. It shows intentionality. It’s deeply personal.

Being chosen is a big deal in our world today. To say to another person, “I choose you” is such a deep expression of love. And the irony of spending time with a person is the fact that words aren’t needed. Just being with someone while they cry, think through a decision, or deal with a loss gives such comfort. Even volunteering to help someone with a difficult task can make the time go by much faster and be much more enjoyable.

It also doubles the fun when you can spend time with someone who is enjoying an experience. Going to a concert is fun, but sharing that concert with another person multiplies the fun! Joining them on an errand can also make for some great conversation and memories.

TRY IT: Where can you carve out one hour of time this week? (HINT: It may mean canceling something else or setting down your phone) Now, use that extra hour to spend time with another person who needs your presence this week.
